Three people were killed and a fourth victim is in serious condition after a head-on collision between a pickup truck and an oil company welding truck in Midland on FM 1788, officials reported.
A DPS official told NewsWest9 that one of the oil company workers was identified as 47-yar-old Manuel Loera. The driver of the pickup truck was identified as 26-year-old Odessa resident, Francisco Ortega. His passenger, who was also killed in the crash, was identified by officials as 27-year-old Joshua Sterns, a resident of New Caney.
The accident occurred at approximately 7 a.m., authorities said.
A fourth person was injured in the Midland crash on FM 1788 near County Rd 160. That victim was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital. That victim was identified as 27-year-old Ehrenber, Arizona resident, Jesus Carballo.
According to DPS reports, the driver of a tan pickup truck was traveling south on FM 1788 when it crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and collided head-on with the oil company welding truck. Police believe that the pickup truck was passing another vehicle.
The driver and a passenger in the pickup as well as the driver of the oil company truck were all killed in the Midland accident.
Police are still investigating the scene of the head-on collision in Midland and have not yet revealed if safety restrains were used at the time of the wreck.
