Truck Accident in Lubbock Claims Life of Aspermont Man

A three-vehicle accident on U.S. 380, near U.S. 83, left one man dead when his pickup truck smashed into the back of a Mack truck, police said.

Officials identified the man as 18-year-old Aspermont resident, Matthew Zinn Lindsey. Lindsey was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck.

Police said the accident occurred when the driver of a Mack truck pulling a dump trailer pulled to the side of the highway to allow for an oversized freightliner traveling in the opposite lane of traffic. As a result Lindsey struck the rear of the Mack truck. As a result of the rear-ending accident, officials said Lindsey's pickup was thrown into the path of the freightliner. The roof of Lindsey's pickup truck was sliced off completely.

The driver of the Mack truck was identified as 40-year-old Shane Rogers, of Roscoe. The freightliner operator was identified as 28-year-old James Michael Green, a resident of Abilene.

Rollover Car Accident on Loop 250 in Midland Injures Two

A rollover accident in Midland, Texas left at least two people injured after the driver of a pickup truck lost control of the vehicle, tripping over a guardrail before the vehicle overturned. In addition to the two occupants injured in the car accident in Midland, three other passengers were involved, police said.

Police identified the driver of the 2009 Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck as Blake Jones. Jones experienced serious injuries after he was ejected from the vehicle during the Midland rollover accident. The passenger, who was also injured, was identified by police as Nancy Marburgur. No age was released for Jones or Marburgur.

Both Jones and Marburgur were transported to Midland Memorial Hospital for treatment of the injuries they endured as a result of the single vehicle accident on Loop 250.

The other three passengers in the truck at the time of the crash did not require treatment, officials with the Midland Police Department said in a press release.

Conroe Car Accident Kills Three, Injures Two Others

A car accident in Conroe, Texas, involving two vehicles, claimed the lives of three people and seriously injuring two others on Saturday morning, police said.

Officials identified one of the men killed in the Conroe car accident as 19-year-old Misael Esquibel, who was driving one of the vehicles at the time of the collision.

Police also identified 24-year-old Alexander Moreno and 48-year-old Jose Aurelio Cantarero Benitez as victims of the accident. Both men were passengers in Esquibel's vehicle. David Mejia Bonilla, 24, was also killed in the collision.

Police identified the baby as Trinity Raelee-Lynn Liebhaber. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the rollover accident on Highway 84.

Three other young passengers were injured in the Snyder car accident, despite wearing seatbelts, officials said. Nathaniel Parker, a 15-year-old resident of Coleman, was transported to Snyder's Cogdell Hospital.

May marks Motorcycle Awareness Month, and TxDOT is running a public awareness and motorcycle safety campaign. This year's theme is "Seeing Them Is Saving Them." Motorists are encouraged to be alert and look twice for motorcycles, particularly when changing lanes or going through intersections.

In half of all fatal Texas motorcycle accidents the driver simply failed to see the motorcyclist. Last year there were 470 motorcycle fatalities in the state; this represents 16 percent of traffic deaths in Texas.

]]> When a collision between a car and motorcycle occurs, the motorcyclist is at much greater risk for serious injuries or death. Nationally, a motorcycle rider is five times as likely to sustain injuries in a crash, and has a 25 times greater likelihood of death.

Amarillo Motorcyclist Struck by Alleged Drunk Driver Dies

A motorcyclist, who was struck by a vehicle last weekend died on Thursday evening, succumbing to injuries he sustained in the hit and run accident in Amarillo, Texas.

Police identified the manwho was struck while riding his motorcycle on South Western in Amarillo, as 49-year-old Juan Rincon.

The man who, according to police, was driving the vehicle that struck Rincon was identified as 26-year-old Rafael Monteagudo. Officials said Monteagudo left the scene of the accident but was later arrested by police and charged with intoxicated assault and failure to stop and render aid.

Authorities are still investigating the accident.

One person died and at least five others were injured in a car accident outside Austin on US 183 in Leander, Thursday night, police said.

Authorities said the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck veered into the opposite lane of traffic, smashing into a Hyundai SUV, which, in turn, struck a Toyota SUV. Police identified the driver of the pickup as Eugenio Tai, 76, of Leander. Tai was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Hyundai SUV was identified as Kimberly Floyd, 41, of Liberty Hill.

Four other people in addition to Floyd were transported to St. Davids Medical Center in round Rock. Two of the occupants, who were children, were transported to Dell Children's Medical Center. The driver of the Toyota, identified as Tressa Pollard, was not injured in the Austin car wreck.
