10-year-old Killed, Five Injured in San Antonio Rollover Accident

A 10-year-old girl was killed after she was ejected from an SUV when it rolled over after the driver lost control in a San Antonio accident. Five other occupants in the vehicle were transported to hospitals for the treatment of injuries they endured in the San Antonio car accident.

Police identified the young girl, who was killed in the I-37 crash, as Analysa Parra. According to a report published by KSAT News, Analysa Parra was ejected from the vehicle and struck by the rolling suburban.

Emergency personnel had to extract one of the vehicles occupants, a 14-year-old female, who was later transported to the hospital via helicopter. Two other children and the parents, one of which had been driving the Suburban, were also transported to area hospitals with injuries resulting from the rollover crash.

The mother of the young occupants, who was also driving the vehicle, was identified as 30-year-old Erica Parra. Police did not believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Rollover accidents are common among single vehicle accidents, often resulting when the driver of a vehicle loses control of the vehicle becomes tripped up on a surface or object.

Although drivers and loved ones may question what could have been done differently during a rollover accident, to protect passengers and drivers alike, sometimes, rollover accidents and the related dangers may be exacerbated by defective auto products, that fail to protect occupants and can actually provoke injury.

Defective roof pillars that fail to protect the space between the head and the roof of a car, truck or SUV as it rolls, is one example of an auto product that fails to perform in the way it was designed. In addition, defective seatbelts may leave passengers and drivers vulnerable to auto ejection.
