11-Year-Old Killed in El Paso Pedestrian Accident Near School

An 11-year-old Bill Sybert student was killed in a pedestrian accident outside the El Paso school, Tuesday. An Accident that left one other student injured as well, police said.

The student who was killed was identified by police as 11-year-old Michelle Solis. The other child, who was injured, was identified as 11-year-old Sally Hernandez. A 9-year-old boy, Andrew Meraz, was also crossing the street at the time of the pedestrian accident but was not injured, officials said.

El Paso officials said the driver of the vehicle that hit the two girls, Blanca Schuler, 33, will not face charges as a result of the Texas pedestrian accident.

A memorial has been established for Solis near the scene of the crash.

According to residents in the areas and parents of students who attend the school, the timing of the traffic lights nearby make the walk a dangerous one.

The school district is reevaluating the intersections near the school and the timing of the traffic lights as a result of this tragic accident.
