An 18 wheeler truck carrying 180 cows rolled over on Loop 1604 in San Antonio Thursday night, killing the driver of a pickup truck and leaving the cows trapped. According to officials, both vehicles were traveling in the same direction when a Ford pickup smashed into the 18 wheeler truck.
The cause of the wreck is still under investigation, authorities said. Southbound lanes of Loop 1604 were closed for hours while the cattle were removed from the trailer.
The driver of the big rig was not injured in the accident, police said.
No information has been released regarding injuries or fatalities among the cattle.
