3 killed in head-on crash in Terrell
Three people died Monday when a pickup truck towing a trailer veered into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into another pickup truck on Interstate 20, east of Dallas.
The accident occurred near the Wilson Road exit, just after 10 a.m.
Police say the red pickup truck, driven by 55-year-old Lewis Rogers of Monroe, LA, experienced a tire blowout, which caused the truck and trailer to leave the roadway, become airborne and slam into oncoming traffic.
Both the driver and the passenger, who has been identified by police as 54-year-old Jerry Thomas also of Monroe, were killed.
The driver of the pickup that was struck was also killed. He has been identified by police as 68-year-old Jerry Crawford of Princeton, TX.
The crash closed the I-20 for about five hours.
