59 People Injured, Two Killed in New Oreleans Pile-up

A New Orleans pile-up on Interstate 10, involving at least 40 vehicles, which included several 18 wheeler trucks, has resulted in multiple injuries and the death of at least 2 people, authorities said.

At least 22 people were transported to local hospitals for injuries incurred in the accident. Although some of them endured minor injuries, other experienced more serious injuries. In addition to the 22 people transported for injuries, at least 37 other people refused treatment.

The people who were killed in the multi-vehicle crash have only been identified as the driver of a pickup truck driver from Slidell, La. And a passenger, 54, from Springfield, La.

Police and emergency crews were still clearing the wreckage into the early afternoon. Officials and unsure what sparked the multiple vehicle car accident in Louisiana, although, investigations continue.
