Girl Dragged 100 Ft in Drunk Driving Accident

An 8-year-old was struck by a car while riding a big wheel in a drunk driving accident in San Antonio, police said.

Police identified the young girl as Delores Mitchell of Canton.

After she was hit by the driver, the wheel of her vehicle became lodged in the car and she was dragged as much as 100 feet, authorities said.

The driver was identified by officials as 42-year-old Zelt Lee Speaker.

Although the driver of the vehicle that struck the young girl stopped and waited for authorities to arrive, he is being charged with intoxication assault.

Police said a witness on the scene of the drunk driving accident in San Antonio fired a gun into the air to get the driver to stop.

Speaker told police he knew he hit something but he wasn’t sure what.
