A serious rollover accident left yet another Texas town in mourning after a 16-year-old teen was killed as a result of the tragic car wreck.

Police identified the young man who was killed in the rollover crash as Arnold Casas, who was a passenger in the vehicle that flipped.

Police said the driver, who was identified as Alex Rodriguez, may have been traveling on CR 172 at a high rate of speed before losing control of the vehicle. As a result, police believe the car rolled several times before coming to a rest.

Casas was transported to Christus Sphn Hospital in Alive, where he was later pronounced dead from injuries he endured in the crash. Other passengers who were riding in the vehicle at the time of the wreck were identified as Miranda Hernandez, Nicolas Ryan Garza and Mireya Casas. All Three of those passengers were similarly transported to the hospital with Rodriguez and Mireya Casas recently listed in critical condition.

Since many rollover accidents can be tied to overcorrection and loss of control by drivers, lacking experience by young drivers can be particular dangerous for those who may have encountered debris in the road, experienced a vehicle malfunction or become tripped up on an uneven or damaged surface. Though even the most experienced driver’s first reaction may be to jerk the steering wheel in an attempt to regain control of a wayward vehicle, overcorrection can up the risk of overturning. Despite improvements to safety standards in the vehicle industry, not all vehicles have consumers’ best interests at heart. Instead, profit and one’s bottom line sometimes take precedence over keeping occupants of a vehicle safe during catastrophic accidents, such as rollovers.
