B.O.B. Recalls Strollers for Finger Amputation Risk

A BOB Motion stroller recall was recently announced, citing the possibility for finger amputation among children, babies and even adults using the potentially dangerous baby product, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

According to stroller maker, Britax, a defective hinge on the stroller can cause lacerations, breaks and amputation of fingers. The problem with the hinge occurs when the release strap is pulled, Britax reported. Several injuries were reported in association with the stroller defect, prompting the recall, the CPSC said.

Like other products on the market, from vehicles to household goods, baby products must meet stringent standards that govern the materials, design, parts and pieces comprising goods used by the most vulnerable consumers. Bad baby products that pose choking hazards, fail to protect infants and children and leave them at risk for suffocation and serious injuries are a problem for families searching for convenient and safe toys and products for their kids.

Though some injuries are minor, others can be life threatening and completely transform the lives of children and their families.

As consumers, we sometimes believe that if products are available for us to purchase from the store, then they must be safe for our children. But despite standards, the health and safety of our families and children is not always on the forefront of the minds of companies and their leadership. Instead, some companies knowingly produce and market baby products that put our children in harm’s way, using toxic materials, small parts and poor design.

At The Carlson Law Firm, we’ve successfully helped families who’ve had a child or infant injured by a defective baby product, hold companies responsible for the negligence prompting their injury. While we may not be able to erase the damages endured, the injuries experienced or the death of a child, we hope that our efforts to hold irresponsible companies accountable will help prevent future injuries and wrongful death.
