Bastrop Senior Citizens Injured in La. Commercial Bus Accident

A Louisiana bus accident involving a group of Bastrop, Texas senior citizens on their to Coushatta Casino resort, sent several people to the hospital on Friday when the driver of a pickup truck failed to yield the right of way, sparking the commercial bus crash, police said.

There were 46 people on board the bus at the time of the crash. Seven of those passengers were transported to the hospital with injuries caused by the collision. The pickup truck’s driver was identified as Anthony Pitre, Sr., 67, a resident of Lake Charles.

Passengers on the bus told KXAN that the bus and the pickup truck caught fire as a result of the impact of collision.

One of the injured victims reportedly suffered a broken leg in the wreck. The driver of the pickup truck was reported in serious condition, authorities revealed.
