A driver was injured when her car slid beneath a log truck in Jasper County on Highway 190, on Monday afternoon.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers said a log truck, pulled by a skidder, pulled onto the highway in front of a Saturn Ion. The log truck was owned by Jerry & Tecea Trucking of Jasper and driven by Jerry Peden. The skidder was operated by John Lord of Hemphill, Texas.

The Saturn driver, 33-year-old Jessica Matthews of Kirbyville, Texas was transported to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital via ambulance with injuries, that police speculate, were not life threatening. The operator of the truck and the skidder operator were not injured in the truck collision.

According to authorities, Matthews ducked down in her vehicle when she realized the collision could not be avoided.

Trooper said the skidder operator was given a citation for failing to yield right of way, provoking the accident.
