Carlson offers RideAustin promo code over long weekend
Labor Day weekend is a time to celebrate the end of summer with friends and family. Whether you are marking the occasion with a trip to the beach, a barbecue in the park or a night on the town, it is important to remember that festivities can turn tragic with just one wrong decision.
According to MADD, Texas leads the nation in drunk driving deaths. Last year, there was a staggering 1,446 drunk driving fatalities, and 15,687 injuries caused by alcohol related crashes.
Here at the Carlson Law Firm, we urge you not to drink and drive. We’ve seen again and again that when people have a reliable alternative to get home safe, they choose not to drink and drive. This is why we’ve teamed up with RideAustin to offer you $15 off a ride this Labor Day weekend. By providing a reliable ride at the push of a button, we hope you decide not to drink and drive.
How to stay safe on Texas roads this weekend
The Texas Department of Public Safety is reminding drivers to use extreme caution while driving this holiday weekend.
In an effort to curb dangerous driving incidents, TxDPS authorities from across the state will be on the lookout for drivers who disregard traffic laws, speeders, and safety belt violators, and of course, those suspected of being impaired.
Just last year, troopers made 488 DWI arrests, and issued 8,515 speeding citations, 1,091 seat belt/child safety seat citations and 1,062 no insurance citations, in addition to 278 fugitive arrests and 224 felony arrests over the Labor Day holiday weekend.
DPS has offered the following tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable long weekend:
- Don’t drink and drive; designate a driver or take a cab.
- Eliminate distractions, including the usage of mobile devices.
- Buckle up everyone in the vehicle.
- Slow down, especially in bad weather, construction areas and heavy traffic.
- Slow down or move over for police, fire and EMS vehicles as well as tow trucks and TxDOT vehicles on the side of the road with emergency lights on
- Slow down for motorists on the side of the road or move over a lane if it is safe to do so.
- Don’t drive fatigued.
- Drive defensively
- Make sure your vehicle is properly maintained before your trip.
