A Carrollton, Texas man was killed after being struck by a car as he helped a woman who had run out of gas in Florida, Highway Patrol officials said.

The man was identified by police as 28-year-old Mark Cody Adams.

Adams got out of his vehicle to help the driver of the SUV, Tiffany Walters, 23, and was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate 4.

Authorities said the vehicle that struck Adams was driven by 32-year-old Glen Ross II, who apparently veered onto the shoulder, crashing into the stopped vehicles as well as into Adams.

Police are still looking into why Ross veered onto the shoulder and the auto accident is still being investigated by authorities.
