A Texas truck accident left one person dead Wednesday afternoon, when two trucks collided, sparking fatal flames.
The accident occurred on Highway 7, near Kosse and Marquez around 4 p.m., authorities reported.
According to Department of Public Safety officials, a gas truck and a Dodge pickup, towing a trailer filled with hay were involved in the wreck. The 18-wheeler truck attempted to pass the Dodge, trooper said, just as the pickup was trying to make a left-hand turn. The tractor trailer crashed into the pickup on the driver’s side, pushing the wreckage off the highway, igniting the pickup and trapping its driver within the inferno. The driver was not able to escape the flames.
A passenger in the Dodge pickup was also killed in the fiery wreckage. The vehicle and any identification the victims have, including license plates, were destroyed in the fire, making it difficult for authorities to identify them.
