Child killed in ATV accident near George West

A 14-year-old boy is dead following an ATV accident early Wednesday morning south of George West.

According to Department of Public Safety officials, Reagan Lyne and another passenger were making a U-turn on an ATV on Highway 59 when it tipped over. Lyne was trapped underneath the machine. The passenger was thrown off.

An 18-wheeler that was approaching then struck the ATV, killing Lyne.

The passenger was received treatment for minor injuries and was released.

The crash is still under investigation by police officials.
