Chrysler Announces 278,000 Vehicle Recall Linked to Axel Defect

Chrysler recently added additional vehicles to a recent Chrysler and Dodge axel recall that could potentially cause drivers to lock up, provoking a loss of control by drivers operating the affected vehicles.

The recall, which includes an additional 278,000 trucks and SUV’s, affects vehicles ranging from 2009 to 2012 year models.

According to officials with the NHTSA, the Dodge axel defect may be caused by a nut on the rear that can potentially come lose.

A previous recall issued by Chrysler last October included more than 44,000 Dodge pickup trucks.

Auto recalls may seem common as consumers report problems and complaints with vehicles and auto makers understand more about the vehicles they sell, but some auto defects are not recalled in time to protect drivers and passengers.

In some situations where an accident occurs, occupants may not even realize that their accident was caused by an auto defect or a piece of safety equipment failed to adequately protect them from injuries.
