A school bus accident on Far Hills Drive in Spring Branch sent one Comal ISD student to the hospital with injuries, officials said.
According to police, bus #449 was involved in a collision with a passenger vehicle while transporting as many as 24 students from Spring Branch Middle School.
Although the CISD school bus accident is still being investigating by authorities, the bus driver was put on paid leave and tested by officials for drugs and alcohol, per district policy.
No other students were injured in the Texas bus crash. Students were transported home by parents and another school bus for the remainder of the ride, police said.
Texas bus collision and the need for seatbelts on school buses has been a hot topic in the news recently, bringing to question whether students would be safer on buses if seatbelts were in place.
