Collision Between SUV and Tractor Trailer Kills One

A deadly tractor trailer accident in Kaufman County, Texas, left one man dead and injured a woman, Wednesday evening when their SUV collided with the big rig.

Officials said the 18 wheeler accident occurred on Interstate 20 when the Ford Explorer, occupied by the man and woman, lost control, smashing into a nearby guardrail and ricocheting into the pathway of the semi-truck.

With the SUV in its path the 18 wheeler t-boned the smaller vehicle, provoking a rollover accident. The impact of the rollover caused the male driver of the SUV to eject from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the collision, although the aftermath required officials to shut down I-20 and backed traffic up for miles.

The female passenger of the SUV was transported to Baylor Hospital with unidentified injuries.

The accident is still under investigation by authorities to determine what caused the SUV’s driver to lose control of the vehicle.
