Coryell County Car Accident Involving Bus Injures Several

A car accident in Coryell County, involving a stopped school bus, sent several people to the hospital after a pickup truck slammed into the back of a vehicle waiting for the bus, provoking a multi-vehicle collision on Wednesday afternoon, officials said. The car accident occurred on Hwy 36.

Although none of the people involved in the accident have been identified by police yet, officials said a Mazda SUV was stopped for the bus, with a Chevrolet sedan stopped behind it. The pickup truck crashed into the rear of the Chevrolet, authorities reported.

No students or occupants on the school bus were, reportedly, injured, police noted.

School zones and regions surrounding school bus routes are important areas for drivers, requiring attentive driving and awareness regarding what other drivers, pedestrians and cyclists are doing. Even seconds glancing down at a cell phone or other mobile device can take a driver’s eyes from the road for valuable time they may need to react to a particular circumstance.
