Cross Plains Woman Killed in Head-on Collision

One woman was killed in a Callahan County collision Saturday, when an SUV was broadsides by a pickup while attempting to make a turn from Highway 36.

One of the passengers in the SUV, identified as Cross Plains resident, 25-year-old Shana Trashell Reed, was pronounced dead after being transported to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

Other occupants within the vehicle, 29-year-old Cody Reed and 2-year-old Cutter Reed, were injured in the car collision. Ricki-Ann France, 45, and David France, 43, who were occupants of the pickup truck and are also residents of Cross Plains, were transported to the hospital with injuries resulting from the Texas car accident.

All of the vehicle occupants involved in the head-on collision were wearing seatbelts, except Shana Reed, authorities noted.
