A cyclist traveling on Monterrey Oaks Drive was struck from behind by a vehicle in a San Marcos bicycle accident on Tuesday morning, sending him to the hospital with serious injuries, officials reported.
The cyclist who was killed while riding in San Marcos was identified as 57-year-old Sidney “Bud” Turner.
Although police are still investigating the cycling accident in San Marcos, Turner was, in fact, using a headlight on his bicycle, which is required by law. In addition, Turner’s bicycle was outfitted with a red reflector on the rear.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Turner called 911 and remained on the scene of the cycling accident. Police said he still could have charges filed against him.
