Dallas Truck Accident Kills Elderly Couple on LBJ Freeway

A dump truck accident in Dallas claimed the lives of an elderly couple on LBJ Freeway on Tuesday morning, when the commercial truck smashed into one vehicle before jumping a barrier on the freeway and striking a second passenger vehicle.

The couple was identified by police as 83-year-old Tarleton Mullikin and 81-year-old Benna Mullikin. The pair was traveling in a Lexus ES350, which was crushed beneath the front of the truck.

A Camry was also involved in the collision, trapped behind the rear of the truck. The driver of that vehicle endured injuries, which police described as non-life threatening.

Police identified the dump truck as belonging to a subcontractor hired for the LBJ Freeway construction project, Rizo Trucking, out of Garland, Texas.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the Dallas truck accident on LBJ Freeway and have not reveal what may have sparked the collision and loss of control associated.

As a result of the truck accident in Dallas, the freeway was closed for almost 5 hours, emergency officials revealed.

Truck accidents can sometimes be much more complicated than collisions that only involve passenger vehicles. The driver, vehicle maintenance, company that owns the truck and the company that hires drivers may all be tied to a commercial vehicle accident, making clear investigation of the events a vital aspect of revealing what may have occurred.
