A Texas 18 wheeler accident claimed the driver of another truck driver when he was struck while outside of his rig Wednesday morning on I-30 near New Boston, Texas.
Police said the truck accident occurred when truck driver, Harold Lockhart, 40, of Dallas, pulled to the side of the interstate and exited his truck. Lockhart was pronounced dead at the scene of the truck crash.
While traveling west on I-30, another semi-truck, driven by Johnny Davis III, veered off the roadway and smashed into Lockhart. Davis’ truck came to a stop in a ditch just off the interstate. Police have not released whether he endured injuries as a result of the truck crash.
Officials are investigating the 18 wheeler accident in an effort to gain a greater understanding about why Lockhart may have pulled his truck over and what caused Davis to lose control on the interstate.
A passenger, traveling with Lockhart, was in the truck at the time of the big rig accident in Texas but was not injured, authorities said.
