Deputy Constable Injured in Kaufman County

A Deputy Constable in Kaufman County was seriously injured when the rear tire of his squad car experienced a tire blowout while he attempted to stop a speeding driver on Hwy 175. As a result of the blown tire, the squad car overturned, rolling several times before coming to a stop.

According to officials, the constable did, in fact, have his sirens and lights in use as he attempted to pull over the speeding driver.

Authorities have not yet identified the injured constable but noted that he was flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas for the treatment of injuries incurred in the tire blowout accident in Kaufman County Texas.

As summer temperatures arrive, the vulnerability of defective or poorly maintained tires can make them increasingly susceptible to blowouts. As a result of a blown tire, many drivers experience a loss of control, especially when the event takes place on the rear, drivers-side tire. As a result of control loss, some drivers may over-correct or a vehicle may become imbalanced, sparking a dangerous rollover accident.
