Dewitt County 18 Wheeler Accident Leaves Three Injured

An 18 Wheeler t-boned a Ford pickup truck in Dewitt County, hospitalizing three occupants within the smaller truck, Cuero Fire Department officials said last week.

The big rig was traveling North on Highway 87, while the pickup was traveling East on Highway 87, authorities said.

After the semi-truck struck the pickup, the Ford F-150 traveled almost 30 feet before landing in a nearby ditch. The collision sparked a fire beneath the hood of the pickup, which authorities quickly put out.

There were three people inside the Ford. All three were transported to the hospital with injures. Some reports speculate one of the passengers may have a punctured lung resulting from the tractor trailer crash in Texas.

The tractor trailer, which normally transports fuel, was empty at the time of the collision.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is continuing to investigate the accident and the identities of those injured in the big rig crash have not yet been released.
