A drunk driving accident in San Antonio led to a dangerous accident that ejected one of the passengers in a van, San Antonio Police Department officials said.

According to police an intoxicated 47-year-old woman smashed into the side of the minivan after running a red light at the intersection of Loop 410 and Vance Jackson Road. The impact of the collision caused a 17-year-old girl to eject from the minivan.

The girl, who has not yet been identified, was transported to University Hospital in critical condition. She was not wearing a seatbelt, authorities said. Her parents did not endure serious injuries as a result of the drunk driving accident.

The intoxicated driver of the sedan that caused the accident and her passenger were transported to Northeast Baptist Hospital with minor injuries, officials said. The passenger in the sedan had also been drinking, police reported. Authorities found small bottles of whiskey in the sedan.

The woman is facing two charges of intoxication assault as a result of the drunk driving accident in San Antonio. Both her vehicle and the minivan were totaled.
