Drunk Driving Accident in Austin Injured Five

A car accident in Austin left five people injured as a result of the collision, police said on Tuesday.

According to reports, a pickup truck collided with a Nissan SUV while crossing U.S. Highway 290. Police said the driver of the Nissan failed to stop at a red like, sparking the Austin car accident.

Upon impact, two occupants were ejected from the Nissan, one of whom experienced serious, life-threatening injuries. One other person in the Nissan was also injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Two people in the pickup truck experienced injuries resulting from the car accident in Austin. One of those occupants, the driver, refused treatment despite minor injuries.

None of the occupants in the Nissan SUV were wearing seatbelts, police believe. In addition, alcohol may have played a role in the auto accident. Police are still investigating the accident.
