A suspected drunk driving accident in San Antonio sent several people to the hospital early Thursday morning, officials reported.

The suspected DWI accident on Loop 1604 occurred when, police said, one driver ran a red light, failing to yield the right of way and causing an oncoming vehicle to smash into it.

A family was in the vehicle that struck the suspected drunk driver. All three people in that vehicle, including a baby, were transported to a local hospital for the treatment of injuries they endured in the San Antonio car accident. Five people, in total, were injured in the crash.

The woman that allegedly ran the red light may be facing intoxication assault charges as a result of the collision, police reported.
