East Texas Collision Claims Lives of Eight People

An East Texas collision left eight people dead, last Friday, when a Chevrolet Malibu struck a Chrysler 300, Department of Public Safety officials said.
According to authorities, the occupants of the Malibu included California residents; Michael Mathis, 24, Lawrence Bridnac III, 19, Curtis Sanders, 25, and Debra Thompson, 21. All of the car’s occupants were killed in the accident. At the time of the accident, police believe the Malibu crossed the center line on Interstate 82, smashing into the Chrysler.
The Chrysler 300 was driven by Sonia de la Torre of Annon, 29, and contained passengers Eric, 8, Saul Jr., 6, and Eric, 10 months. All of the occupants of the Chrysler were also killed in the accident, officials said.
The Malibu had been rented out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, but the deadly crash occurred 150 miles Northeast of Dallas. Police are unsure who was driving at the time of the fatal collision. Both cars erupted into flames upon impact.
