An Ellison High School sophomore is reported to be in critical condition after being struck by a car at the 3800 block of Trimmier Road in Killeen.
According to local authorities, a 911 call was received just before 1 p.m. reporting a pedestrian struck by a car. When police arrived on the scene, they found a 15-year-old on the ground.
Police say she was on her cell phone crossing the street, heading towards the school when she was hit by a Nissan Cube.
Emergency crews requested a medical helicopter to transport the victim to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
Officers closed down the streets in the area and cleared students from the school’s field in order to facilitate the helicopter’s landing.
