Fatal accident shuts down I-35 Friday morning

The collision was between a 2003 GMC pickup truck and an 18-wheeler. The man in the pickup truck that died was John Henry Guerra, 41 of Belton.

After the crash, the tractor-trailer caught fire. The Texas Department of Health assisted in the cleanup because the trailer was full of processed chicken.


I-35 was shut down Friday morning after a fatal vehicle collision happened just north of Jarrell.

At 3:14 a.m., a call came in that a person in a truck crashed into an 18 wheeler semi-tractor trailer according to the Bell County Sheriff’s Department.

Traffic has been rerouted to a nearby exit while I-35 southbound lanes are shut down.

At this time, there is no information on any factors such as speed, weather or alcohol. No injuries have been reported.
