A multi-vehicle collision outside of Midland, Texas involving as many as 17 vehicles left two people dead and sent two other people involved to the hospital with injuries caused by the truck accident.

According to officials the chain collision may have been sparked by a dust storm that inhibited the vision of drivers involved in the crash near Midland.

Two of the vehicles involved in the truck accident were identified as 18 wheelers.

The two people who were killed in the multi-vehicle collision were identified as occupants in a vehicle that was sandwiched between the two 18 wheelers.

Police have not revealed the names of those injured and killed in the collision and are still investigating the car wreck near Midland.

Car wrecks involving 18 wheeler trucks can be devastating to drivers and passengers because of the sheer size difference between passenger vehicles and big rigs. In addition, semi-trucks take much longer to come to a complete stop, making attentive drivers who are properly trained vital to keeping highways and interstates safe.
