Father and son dead after collision with semi

Two people are dead and one is in critical condition following an accident that occurred late Tuesday night.

Authorities say that the driver of a car attempted to make a U-turn in front of an 18-wheeler on Highway 79, four miles southwest of Hearne.

The driver of the car, Gerald Steward-Dykes of Milano, died at the scene of the accident, along with his 8-year-old son, Jaylon.

A third passenger is in the hospital in critical condition. She has been identified as Torilynn Thomas, 23, of Bryan.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured. State troopers have reported that the truck belongs to Sanderson Farms.

The accident happened just before 10pm.
