FedEx Truck Collides With Pickup in Abilene, Two Injured

Police are trying to uncover the details of a killed in a commercial truck accident, where a Fed-Ex truck slammed into a pickup truck just Southeast of Abilene on Highway 36.

The driver of the pickup truck, 75-year-old J.W. Smith was transported to Hendrick Medical Center after he was freed from his vehicle by emergency crew members.

FedEx Truck driver, 38-year-old Troy Sosebee, was also trapped within his truck and had to be extricated from it before he, too, was transported to a local hospital.

Contradicting statements emerged from witnesses as well as both drivers, causing police to continue investigation of the accident before releasing additional details about the Abilene truck accident.

A witness initially placed blame on the Smith, the driver of the pickup truck, before retracting a statement.

Department of Public Safety said the FedEx truck driver may have smashed into the pickup truck as it slowed to make a turn on CR 605. Police have not yet released an update regarding the current medical status of either driver.
