A five-year-old boy was killed in the parking lot of the Kiestone Apartment complex in North Austin when he was struck by an SUV that swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle, police said.
The boy, identified as Esau Bautista, was pronounced dead at the scene of the Austin pedestrian accident.
According to authorities, the young boy’s brother tried to pull him out of the way of the oncoming car but was not successful.
The driver of the 1991 Toyota 4-Runner was transported to the hospital after requesting medical attention, officials said.
Police are still investigating the Austin accident, although they have ruled out alcohol as a cause.
