A Killeen motorcycle accident claimed the life of a 31-year-old Fort Hood soldier on his motorcycle and injured the driver of a passenger vehicle, police said.

Police identified the 31-year-old Fort Hood soldier who was killed as, Sharod Ahkeim Carroll. He was, reportedly, wearing a helmet at the time of the Killeen motorcycle accident.

The accident occurred on Clear Creek Road early Tuesday morning when a police officer reported he saw three motorcycles traveling at high rates of speed. Although the police officer was able to stop one of the motorcyclists, one left the area and another continued speeding, away from the scene.

A second officer, reportedly, tried to stop the speeding motorcyclists but was unsuccessful. As the officer was pursuing the motorcyclist, Carroll and his motorcycle collided with a Pontiac Grand Prix, causing the car to overturn.

Carroll was ejected from his bike and was pronounced dead at the scene of the Killeen motorcycle accident.

The driver of the Grand Prix was freed from the car by emergency crew members, using the jaws-of-life. He was transported to Scott & White Hospital via helicopter with serious injuries to his legs.

Police are still investigating the Killeen motorcycle accident. The name of the Pontiac’s driver has not yet been revealed.
