An Austin car accident on Hwy 95 sent at least four people to the hospital with injuries on Sunday evening when the driver of a pickup truck attempted to make a left turn, sparking a collision with another pickup truck near the 1600 block.

The driver of the other pickup truck that was involved in the car wreck in Bastrop County was identified as 68-year-old Benny Davis, a resident of Cedar Creek. Davis’ 2011 Dodge pickup was occupied by two other people, who were transported to the hospital with injuries caused by the multi-vehicle collision.

The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to leave the roadway and smash into a nearby power pole, which provoked a small grass fire near the scene of the crash.

The driver of the first pickup truck, who was attempting to make a left turn, was identified as 57-year-old David Wayne Ford. According to police, Ford was transported to University Medical Center, Brackenridge along with Davis.

Some homes nearby to the crash site experienced a loss of power as a result of the impact with the electric pole.

Police said blood was drawn as a result of the auto accident in Bastrop County, according to a report published by the Austin Statesman.
