GM Announces Massive Auto Recall Affecting 426K Vehicles

GM announced a massive auto recall, involving several of its sedans, including Chevrolets, Pontiacs and Saturn mid-size vehicles. According to General Motors, the recall was provoked by problems with the transmissions in the vehicles, which could potentially cause sedans to roll, even after a driver has left the vehicle.

More than 426K sedans were part of the GM auto recall, including model years 2007-2010. Chevrolet Malibu, Pontiac G6 and certain model Saturn Aura’s were all part of the massive auto recall by GM.

The National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) has reported at least four accidents tied to the vehicle defect that prompted the recall by GM. No injuries or deaths have been reported to the administration as a result of the defective transmissions.

The GM Transmission Recall (according to NHTSA) Include:

Vehicle Make / Model: Model Years:

  • Chevrolet / Malibu 2008-2010
  • Pontiac / G6 2008-2010
  • Saturn / Aura 2007-2010

Affected Component: Power Train Automatic Transmission. Gear Position Indication

Although some recalls are prompt and effectively notify consumers about potential dangers involving their vehicles, defective baby products, or bad drugs, other recalls occur well after reports of injuries and malfunctions have occurred, putting consumers, their family members and loved ones at risk of serious injury or death.
