An airman, bicycling to work on Goodfellow Air Force Base was seriously injured Wednesday, when he was struck by a driver, who wasn’t wearing her glasses, San Angelo officials said.

The 31-year-old airman, Robert Antoine Abrom, was wearing a reflective vest and helmet at the time of the bicycle accident near San Angelo. Abrom was transported to Shannon Medical Center via ambulance, with serious injuries.

Witnesses at the scene said the woman driving the van that struck Abroms, identified as Dawn Marie Williams, was changing lanes to pass a truck when she struck the bicyclist.

Williams was cited by police for failing to control her speed and driving without prescription lenses.
