Head-On Collision Accident Kills Travis County Couple

A Travis County couple was killed in a head-on accident Tuesday night as they traveled on U.S. 290 near Baxter Lane, police said.
Ernest Boyett, 64, and his wife, Barbara Boyett, 64, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident after a Toyota, traveling opposite them, crossed into their lane, smashing into their Honda Odyssey van.
The Toyota’s driver, 40-year-old Terri Elmore was transported to University Medical Center, Brackenridge via Star Flight, with severe internal injuries and head injuries. She was last listed in critical condition, hospital representatives said.
All of the vehicle occupants involved in the Travis County accident were wearing seatbelts, authorities surmise.
Mr. Boyett was a pastor as Dayspring Fellowship Chapel in Austin, well-known about his community and congregation.
Police are still investigating the cause of the Toyota’s loss of control and what may have provoked Elmore to travel into the oncoming lane of traffic.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Boyett’s family and friends as they mourn the loss of their loved ones.
