Hereford Man Killed When Vehicle Explodes

A Hereford man was killed in a fatal explosion early Wednesday when the vehicle he was getting into, suddenly ignited, police said.

According to reports, Tommy Barrett, 56, was climbing into a vehicle owned by Hereford Independent School District vehicle when it ignited. Emergency crews and bystanders, including family members, were not able to save Barrett. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the explosion.

The explosion accident in Hereford is still under investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, officials said.
