High School Students Seriously Injured in Durant Car Accident
Two high school students were seriously car accident in Durant when the driver of a GMC Yukon attempted to change lanes and overcorrected after noticing another vehicle in the lane.
Police identified the students injured as 18-year-old Christen Regan and 17-year-old Lacey Gibby. The teens were passengers in the Yukon, driven by 17-year-old Katelynn Ervin, of Hendrix, Texas.
Gibby was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the car accident. Both Regan and Gibby were airlifted to Parkland. Ervin was transported to Texoma Medical Center, Denison and was later released.
The other vehicle involved in the Texas car accident was identified as 18-year-old Jeremiah Thomas McCain, of Achille. He was not injured in the car accident in Durant.
Although McCain told police the Yukon had cut him off, he was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving, according to an article published by the Durant Democrat.
