Hit And Run Motorcycle Accident Injures Rider in Plano, Texas

Posted By The Carlson Law Firm || 28-Dec-2011

An SUV slammed on its brakes, Tuesday night, causing a motorcyclist traveling behind to smash into the rear of the vehicle, sending the rider to a Plano hospital with serious injuries.

Once the motorcyclist struck the SUV, the rider and his bike slid hundreds of feet before coming to a stop nearby. The man riding the motorcycle was transported to Plano Medical Center in serious condition via Air Evac.

According authorities, investigators are still trying to locate the SUV and its driver for further information regarding the motorcycle accident.

Motorcyclists are 35 times more likely to die in an accident than passengers in a vehicle. But despite the risks associated with riding, motorcycle riding is gaining popularity among people across the nation.

Motorcyclists have very little vehicle protection during instances of accident, in contrast with the protection offered to occupants within a passenger vehicle, truck or other larger auto on the road. Inattentive vehicle drivers can sometimes overlook smaller bikes on the road ways, making motorcyclists more vulnerable to accidents involving passenger cars and trucks.

In addition to negligent drivers on interstates and highways, some motorcycle accidents can be sparked by motorcycle defects, including defective motorcycle helmets, defective brakes or other dangerous defects.
