A rear-end truck accident involving an 18 wheeler on Hwy 46 sent one man to the hospital via helicopter on Tuesday morning, officials revealed.

Police said a pickup truck was rear-ended by the semi-truck, which pushed the pickup into a sedan traveling in front of it.

Although the injured man’s name was not revealed by officials, he was identified as a 30-year-old male. Emergency personnel reported that the man endured head injuries and possible internal injuries as a result of the semi-truck crash in New Braunfels. The man was transported to University Hospital.

The driver of the sedan that was struck by the pickup experienced minor injuries, as did the driver of the semi-truck.

According to reports the pickup truck was hauling spray paint at the time of the 18 wheeler truck accident. Authorities were forced to close one lane of the highway as a result of the rear-end collision.
