A hit-and-run occurs when damage or injury is caused to the property or body of another person and the person responsible leaves the scene of the accident. Depending on the situation, hit-and-run offenders may be charged with misdemeanors, felonies or both. Texas hit-and-run law highlights the responsibility of a driver involved in such an accident to stop.

Often, when injuries or death are the result of a hit-and-run accident, offenders may be charged with a felony charge because of the seriousness associated with not rendering aid to someone in need.
