Kennard Man Killed in 18 Wheeler Crash Outside Tyler, Texas on CR 21

A collision involving two 18 wheeler trucks left one of the drivers dead on Friday when one driver failed to yield the right of way, sparking the semi truck accident on CR 21 just outside of Tyler, Texas, authorities announced.

The driver who was killed was identified as 59-year-old Archie Lee Moore, a resident of Kennard, Texas.

The unidentified driver of the other tractor trailer truck involved in the collision allegedly either ran the stop sign at the intersection at Jamestown Road or failed to yield to Moore’s truck, officials noted.

Moore’s truck, which was hauling logs, became lodged beneath the other truck. One of the truck overturned as a result. Police have not revealed whether the other driver endured injuries as a result of the big rig accident near Tyler.

The wreckage required crews to close the roadway while it was cleared of debris and the trucks and authorities investigated the scene of the crash. Police have not revealed whether they plan to charge the other driver for failing to yield the right of way, sparking the wreck.

Accidents involving multiple 18 wheelers can be life threatening for smaller passenger vehicles as well as the drivers of the trucks themselves. Even with the protection of large truck, drivers can endure serious injuries that transform their lives and their ability to support themselves and their families or result in their deaths. Inattention, drug and alcohol use and severe drowsiness are all some of the most common problems linked to tractor trailer accidents. But despite the common aspect of some of the problems tied to big rig accidents, many hiring firms, trucking companies and maintenance companies fail to protect drivers and other auto occupants by adequately drug testing, training and maintaining vehicles.
