Killeen Man Killed After Avoiding Dog, Rolling Car in Central Texas

A Central Texas man was killed when he rolled his vehicle after swerving to avoid hitting a dog near Florence Road on Sunday.
Twenty-seven-year-old Gregory Robertson was transported to Scott & White Memorial Hospital via helicopter with critical injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Witnesses on the scene said Robertson lost control when he swerved, after the dog ran into the road, causing his vehicle to roll and smash into a brick sign in front of a nearby church before sliding into the grass and resting upside down.
Rollover accidents can often result in ejection from a vehicle when defective seatbelts fail or protective equipment is not used properly. In addition, defective roof pillars, defective glass and other safety equipment in a vehicle can fail, affecting the crashworthiness of a vehicle and resulting in serious brain injuries, spinal injuries, head injuries, neck injuries or death.
Manufacturers of vehicles are responsible for making sure cars, trucks and SUV’s keep occupants safe during crashes and rollover accidents. Instead, some manufacturers use parts and products that they know will not safeguard drivers and passengers because of the lower cost. The roof of a vehicle should provide occupants with a protective space, guarding the vulnerable head and neck region from impact during a rollover. A defective or poorly designed and manufactured roof may not provide adequate safety and protection during a Texas crash.
