Lubbock Man Among Two Killed in Car Accident on U.S. 82

Two people were killed in a car accident on U.S. 82 outside of Brownfield early Thursday, when two vehicles collided officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

Officials believe the glare of the sun may have played a role in the auto collision on U.S. 82.

The victims of the car accident were identified as 50-year-old Charles Curry, a resident of New Mexico, and 50-year-old Lubbock resident, Derenda Key Davila. Davila was pronounced dead at the scene of the car accident in Terry County.

Authorities said Curry may have been attempting to pass another vehicle, when he was blinded by the sun. Curry’s Ford truck slammed head-on into Davila’s Toyota pickup truck, they noted.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of both victims, killed in this tragic car accident.
