Massive Pileup Near Port Arthur Leaves Many Injured

According to police reports, the accident involved more than 40 different cars. Officials are currently tying the accident to foggy and smoky conditions in the area, which reduced the visibility of motorists.

As many as 6 ambulances were called to the scene of the pileup accident on Highway 73, caring for the multiple people injured as a result of the collisions. Recent reports have noted that at least four people injured in the wreck were listed in critical condition.

Names and details regarding the people injured have not yet been revealed as authorities continue investigating the accident and other causes for the collisions.

When emergency crews arrived, at least two passenger vehicles were on fire and the jaws of life were used to free some occupants stuck within their cars.

Although officials have made it clear that there were injuries resulting from the multiple-vehicle crash, they have currently only noted a couple serious injuries tied to the wreck. Some of the injuries officials are reporting include; broken bones, abrasions, and trauma, according to reports by the Associated Press.

No fatalities have been reported.

All eastbound and westbound lanes of traffic at the site of the pileup accident have been closed as crews attempt to clean up the roads and investigations take place.
